South Africa’s municipalities are increasingly playing a key role in addressing youth unemployment by offering structured workplace learning opportunities. The UMzinyathi District Municipality Financial Internship Programme is one such initiative, designed to equip young graduates with practical skills, financial management expertise, and valuable exposure to the public sector. Running over a 24-month period, this programme offers an excellent pathway for youth to build their careers while contributing to municipal financial operations.
About the Programme
The Financial Internship Programme provides an opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain hands-on training in municipal financial management. Interns will rotate through different financial units, including Budget and Reporting, Supply Chain Management, Revenue, and Expenditure.
