Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) Bursary Programme for 2026

Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) Bursary Programme for 2026

Access to higher education can be transformative—but for students with disabilities, financial barriers and a lack of support systems often stand in the way. Recognising this, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) in South Africa has launched a dedicated bursary programme for 2026, specifically designed to empower students with permanent disabilities as they pursue critical qualifications.

Who Can Apply?

The bursary is open to South African citizens who:

  • Have a permanent disability, documented by a medical professional.
  • Are enrolling (or currently studying) full-time at any recognised South African university or accredited institution.
  • Are pursuing qualifications in Data Science, Business Management, BCom Economics, BCom Finance, or Bachelor of Laws.
  • Demonstrate genuine financial need, validated with proof such as parents’ payslips or affidavits.

What’s Covered?

FSCA’s commitment goes beyond mere tuition—they provide comprehensive support:

  • Full tuition and registration
  • Prescribed textbooks and study materials
  • Accommodation plus meals
  • Monthly allowance for everyday and incidental costs
  • Crucially—assistive learning devices, e.g., wheelchairs, ZoomText/JAWS reading software, or specialised computers recommended by a doctor

How Long Does It Last?

Your bursary lasts for the full duration of your undergraduate studies in the selected field, so long as you meet academic and progress requirements

What’s Expected in Return

To strengthen public service and promote inclusion, bursary recipients commit to:

  • A work-back contract, equivalent in duration to the years funded.
  • Experiential learning placements during and after studies, facilitated by the FSCA

How to Apply:

Applicants need to gather the following documents:

  • Motivation letter outlining your goals and how this bursary will help
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Certified academic results or matric certificate
  • Doctor’s letter confirming permanent disability
  • Proof of parents’ income (payslip or affidavit)

Why This Bursary Matters

  1. Advancing inclusivity: FSCA is actively promoting diversity in the financial sector by intentionally investing in talented individuals who face systemic barriers.
  2. Strategic sector development: Beneficiaries enter fields where financial regulation, data analysis, and legal insights are vital—creating a more representative and robust industry.
  3. Wrap-around support: By including assistive devices, accommodation, meals, and allowances, the programme addresses not just tuition—but every barrier to academic success.
  4. Career pathways: The bursary is more than financial aid—it’s a bridge to experience and employment with the FSCA and within the sector.

By investing in disadvantaged students with disabilities, the FSCA demonstrates that financial regulation and consumer protection can go hand‑in‑hand with equity, access, and social justice.
