The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is a government department in South Africa responsible for the management, conservation, and distribution of the country’s water resources and sanitation services. Its primary focus is to ensure the sustainable use of water resources, equitable access to water for all South Africans, and the provision of adequate sanitation services.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Water Resource Management:
- Development and maintenance of national water infrastructure, such as dams and water treatment plants.
- Protection of water resources, including rivers, dams, wetlands, and groundwater.
- Monitoring and addressing water pollution.
- Water Supply and Distribution:
- Ensuring that communities, industries, and agriculture have access to adequate water supply.
- Collaborating with local municipalities and other stakeholders to improve water service delivery.
- Sanitation Services:
- Promoting the installation and maintenance of sanitation infrastructure to improve hygiene and health.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is offering opportunities to unemployed South Africans University Graduates who have not been exposed to work experience related to their qualifications., Application quoting the reference number must be made to the province of residence and be submitted through the addresses depicted under each post. Learners must be youth between the ages of 18 to 35 as at the start date of the placement.
