The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is inviting unemployed people to register on a database for different departmental programmes in its Youth Recruitment Drive. The objectives of these programmes are to provide training to young people in different skills in order to acquire the experience needed to be employable.
The opportunity is targeting people of the Eastern Cape, youth, women and people with disabilities. Successful applicants will be placed into the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure district depots.
PROGRAMME 1: ACCELERATED PROFESSIONAL AND TRADE COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (APTCoD)
- TARGET GROUP: 18 – 45 years
- STIPEND: R 3300.00 per month
- DURATION: 4 years

Certified copy of certificate on the following:
- Minimum qualification: N2 or NCV level 2 of Plumbing, Bricklaying and Carpentry Trades.
- Minimum qualification: N3 or NCV level 3 – Electrical and Mechanical Trades
- Minimum grade for Welding: Grade 10 or Standard 8
- Minimum grade for Painting: Grade 12 or Standard 10.
- Proof of residence
- Ex NYS learners with minimum of 50% on RPL
- Ex EPWP Maintenance Programme participants with minimum of 50% on RPL
- A person with a built environment experience with a minimum of 50% on RPL
PROGRAMME 2: NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE
- STIPEND: R 2 800.00 per month
- DURATION: 18 months
- TARGET GROUP: 18 – 35 years
