The City of Johannesburg is proud to announce exciting internship opportunities within the Group Strategy, Policy Coordination and Relations (GSPCR) department. This initiative is part of the city’s commitment to fostering skills development, empowering youth, and promoting good governance through public sector exposure. The GSPCR Internship Programme offers an excellent platform for qualified graduates to gain hands-on experience in strategic planning, policy analysis, and public administration.

INTERNSHIP: CORPORATE PERFORMANCE SUPPORT

Remuneration: R10 109.86 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits) (Qualification completed with min 360 credits):

Location: 48 Ameshoff Street, Braamfontein

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric/Grade 12, NQF level 4 plus a three-year degree/diploma in Public Policy / Social Science / Statistics / Internal Audit / Development Studies / Administration / Management / Monitoring and Evaluation or any equivalent qualification (NQF level 6/7);
  • Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.

This internship provides successful candidates with the opportunity to be immersed in real-world municipal governance challenges and contribute to projects that shape the future of Johannesburg. Interns will work closely with senior professionals across various divisions to support policy formulation, strategic alignment, performance monitoring, and stakeholder coordination.

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Ensure organizational corporate performance management, and evaluation and reporting City-wide, thereby ensuring that they are aligned with City and Government norms, standards, regulations, and guidelines.

KEY LEARNING AREAS:

  • Conduct performance verification and evaluation process on means of verification submitted against scorecards;
  • Strengthening the provision of tangible, practical and responsive support to all stakeholders to enable greater and effective implementation of the policy;
  • Manage all the full scope of procedural and administrative requirement and reporting deadlines associated with the function.
