Lephalale TVET College, in collaboration with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MerSeta), is inviting applications for its Solar Photovoltaic Technician (Technical Mentors) Learnership Programme. This programme seeks to empower young South Africans with specialized skills in the renewable energy sector, while also contributing to the nation’s transition to green energy. There are three (3) posts available, making this a competitive and exciting opportunity for aspiring professionals.
About the Programme
The learnership is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate teaching and learning in the field of solar energy. Successful applicants will play an important role in training learners for the QCTO-registered Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician qualification, using both digital learning platforms and state-of-the-art simulated practical teaching equipment.
This opportunity reflects the college’s commitment to supporting South Africa’s skills development agenda, particularly in high-demand industries such as renewable energy.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Senior/ National Senior Certificate with Mathematics as a passed subject OR
- NCV Level 4 Certificate with Mathematics as a passed subject AND
- National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering (without Trade Certificate).
Applicants should also have a strong interest in the renewable energy industry, the ability to engage with students through digital platforms, and the technical capacity to mentor learners in practical simulations.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Facilitating teaching and learning for the Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician qualification.
- Using digital learning platforms effectively to deliver theoretical training.
- Supporting learners through specialized simulated practical teaching equipment to build hands-on skills.
- Ensuring training delivery aligns with QCTO standards and MerSeta expectations.
