In an era where digital skills are rapidly shaping the global economy, the Mentec Foundation, in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), is stepping up to equip South Africa’s youth with critical tech-based competencies. Their collaborative Website Development and SEO/Digital Marketing Training Programme is a game-changer for unemployed youth, offering a free, hands-on opportunity to gain in-demand digital skills that are essential in today’s job market and entrepreneurial landscape.
Bridging the Digital Divide
The initiative addresses two key challenges: youth unemployment and the digital divide. South Africa continues to grapple with high youth unemployment rates, while the demand for tech-savvy professionals grows across sectors. The Mentec Foundation, known for its focus on empowering underserved communities through technology training, has joined forces with the NYDA—a government agency dedicated to youth development—to launch a programme that provides young people with relevant, practical, and market-ready digital skills.
This training is not just theoretical. It is deeply practical, enabling participants to design real-world websites, implement SEO strategies, and build effective digital marketing campaigns. These are skills that can immediately be used to support small businesses, work as freelancers, or launch independent ventures.
What the Programme Offers
Participants in the Mentec Foundation and NYDA programme benefit from comprehensive, fully funded training in:
- Website Development – covering HTML, CSS, WordPress, and more.
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – learning how to increase a website’s visibility on search engines like Google.
- Digital Marketing – including content marketing, social media marketing, Google Ads, and email marketing strategies.
This multi-pronged approach ensures that young people not only learn how to build websites but also how to drive traffic to them and monetize their skills. Graduates of the programme are equipped to enter the digital economy either as job-ready candidates or budding entrepreneurs.
Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to unemployed youth aged 18–35, with a strong interest in technology, marketing, or entrepreneurship. Priority is given to those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. No prior experience in coding or digital marketing is required—just a willingness to learn and a passion for growth.
