What About TVET N4, N5 and N6 Applicants?

This is where applicants need to understand government vacancy wording carefully.

Having an N6 certificate does not automatically mean that you meet every vacancy requiring an NQF Level 6 National Diploma.

These are not necessarily interchangeable qualifications.

When an advert specifically requires a National Diploma at NQF Level 6, applicants should not simply assume that an N6 certificate satisfies that requirement.

However, several of the clerk-level positions listed above require Grade 12 only, meaning an applicant who also holds N4, N5 or N6 may still qualify based on the Grade 12 requirement.

Common Mistakes TVET Applicants Should Avoid

One major mistake is applying simply because the vacancy contains the words “Supply Chain.”

Check the qualification level, experience requirement, location, closing date and application method first.

Other common mistakes include submitting incomplete applications, using an outdated CV, failing to quote the correct reference number, applying after the closing date and claiming that an N6 certificate is equivalent to a National Diploma when the advert specifically requires the latter.

Your first objective is to get into an environment where you can start building verifiable workplace experience.

Apply selectively but consistently.
