About the Programme
The SAB Brewing In-Service Training Programme provides invaluable practical experience in the brewing environment. The key purpose of this training is to ensure trainees gain comprehensive exposure to the brewing process, from the Brew House and Cellars to Filtration and Bright Beer Tanks. Trainees will not only gain technical knowledge but also participate actively in problem-solving, quality control, and plant maintenance, making them well-rounded professionals in the field.
Participants will support operational excellence through quality checks, performance monitoring, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). They will also collaborate with teams across departments, ensuring they are industry-ready upon completing their experiential training.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Trainees accepted into the programme will be responsible for:
- Operating brewing equipment according to SOPs.
- Monitoring process performance and recording reasons for deviations.
- Tracking waste trends and identifying areas for improvement.
- Conducting deep cleaning, lubrication, and inspections of brewing equipment.
- Identifying and reporting defective equipment to the Control Room Operator (CRO).
- Performing quality checks and analyses, accurately recording results.
- Participating in shift meetings, goal reviews, and improvement discussions.
- Using problem-solving methods such as 5Y’s and quick fix routines to resolve challenges.
- Ensuring effective shift handovers by communicating key issues relating to plant performance, quality, and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the SAB Brewing In-Service Training Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a 3rd-year student studying towards a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Have a solid understanding of the brewing process and chemical principles of beer production.
- Be seeking an opportunity to complete experiential training or plant exposure.
- Possess the ability to monitor process performance, work effectively in teams, and adapt to a dynamic workplace.
- Have strong PC literacy for recording and analyzing process performance data.
