Oudtshoorn Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme 2025/2027

 

 

The Oudtshoorn Municipality is opening its doors to passionate, unemployed graduates who are eager to launch their careers in the finance sector. Through the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP), two exciting internship opportunities are available, offering candidates the chance to gain valuable work experience while contributing meaningfully to the financial administration of the municipality.

About the Programme

The MFMIP is a structured programme designed to build capacity within local government by equipping young graduates with practical financial management skills. The Oudtshoorn Municipality seeks to provide hands-on exposure to municipal operations while empowering interns to become skilled finance professionals who can thrive in both public and private sectors.

This programme runs for a contract period of 24 months, providing participants with comprehensive training in line with the requirements of the National Treasury and the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA).

INTERNSHIP: MUNICIPAL FINANCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME X2 POSTS (2-YEAR CONTRACT)

  • SALARY SCALE: R120 000 p.a
  • DEPARTMENT: FINANCIAL SERVICES

REQUIREMENTS

  • National Diploma or B-degree with one of the following majors: Financial Accounting, Auditing or SCM
  • Valid driver’s license or learner’s driver’s license.
  • The candidate must not be older than 35 years.
  • Must reside in the Greater Oudtshoorn municipal area.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • The intern will sign an agreement, which is an addition to the employment contract. The effect of the agreement is to ensure commitment to the programme, which requires, amongst others, full participation in the educational and workplace assignments and observance of policies and procedures
  • The MFMIP is a structured professional training and work experience programme that provides high-quality training and practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office, which is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003 and the underlying reforms.
  • The programme has a logical training sequence that builds on the skills and competencies acquired during University and Technicon training.
  • It ends where appropriate, with the credits of qualification in Municipal Finance Management in line with the Municipal Minimum Competency Regulations, Gazette 299674 of June 2007.
