Internship Location and Duration
The successful applicant will be placed at the MQA Regional Office in Emalahleni (Mpumalanga) and will be contracted for a 24-month internship period. The intern will report directly to the Assistant Regional Manager: Stakeholder Relations, working within a dynamic team that connects mining communities with education, training, and employment initiatives.
What You’ll Learn and Do
This internship is far more than just a desk job. You’ll gain hands-on exposure in key functions that support skills development in mining communities, unemployed youth, and the TVET/CET sector. Key focus areas include:
- Grants Administration
- Verify grant application forms
- Register non-funded learners
- Scan and file learner enrolment forms
- Ensure accuracy of learner data in MQA systems
- Contract Management Support
- Assist in administering youth and community development contracts
- Monitor and follow up on contract approvals
- Maintain scanned records for all signed agreements
- Project and Event Administration
- Organize logistics for community meetings and workshops
- Maintain Excel-based project status reports
- Provide admin support for learner registration processes
- Quality Management Compliance
- Ensure proper documentation and storage of records
- Maintain ISO-aligned filing and reporting systems
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist stakeholders with invoice queries and grant calculations
- Handle training provider questions and site visit responses
- Build proactive relationships with community partners
- Career Guidance & Outreach
- Attend national and regional career expos
- Coordinate exhibition materials and event logistics
- Engage with learners and communities to promote MQA programmes
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following academic and eligibility criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Unemployed and not previously part of any internship
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or NCV (NQF 4)
- A National Diploma (NQF 6) in:
- Human Resources Management / Development
- Business Administration
- Social Sciences
- Public Relations
- Communication
- A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in any of the above fields will be a strong advantage
Key Skills and Attributes
The MQA is looking for driven individuals who bring:
