Mandeni Local Municipality is inviting applications from suitably qualified unemployed graduates to apply for the 2025 Internship Programme. This initiative is aimed at providing graduates with practical workplace experience aligned with their fields of study. The programme is part of the municipality’s commitment to developing youth and improving employability within the iLembe District, KwaZulu-Natal.

Available Internship Opportunities

The internship programme covers various departments within the municipality. The following positions are available:

Community Services National Diploma/Degree in Environmental Management 24 Months R4,000 per month
Corporate Services National Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration or Office Management 24 Months R4,000 per month
Office of the Municipal Manager National Diploma/Degree in Internal Auditing or Risk Management 24 Months R4,000 per month

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for these internship opportunities, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be South African citizens residing within the Mandeni Local Municipality area.
  • Be unemployed and between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
  • Possess the relevant National Diploma or Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Have never participated in an internship programme before.
  • Must attach a comprehensive CV, certified copies of ID and qualifications (not older than 3 months).
  • Applicants must indicate the department they are applying for.

Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in their relevant fields.
  • Be exposed to municipal operations, procedures, and service delivery.
  • Work under mentorship and supervision from experienced municipal officials.
  • Participate in performance reviews and structured learning sessions.
