The Makhado Local Municipality, located in the heart of Limpopo Province, continues to empower local youth through transformative skills development opportunities. The municipality has launched its TVET N6 Public Management Workplace Integrated Placement Programme, specifically aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and practical workplace experience for unemployed graduates.
This placement initiative provides N6 Public Management students from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges with the opportunity to complete the 18-month practical experience required to obtain their National Diploma. For many graduates, securing such workplace exposure is often a challenge, which makes this programme a critical step in fostering employability and sustainable career development in the public service sector.
A Step Towards Economic Empowerment
In line with South Africa’s broader objectives of reducing youth unemployment and developing a skilled workforce, this initiative offers valuable hands-on training within the municipal environment. Participants will be placed across various departments such as Administration, Human Resources, Finance, and Community Services, where they will gain real-world insights into public sector governance and service delivery.
By equipping young graduates with technical and soft skills, the programme is not only enhancing individual capacity but also strengthening the overall efficiency of local government operations.
