Maintenance Investigators (X8 Posts) at the Department of Justice

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is calling on energetic and detail-oriented individuals to fill eight (X8) Maintenance Investigator posts across South Africa. These vacancies offer a unique opportunity to support the family law system by ensuring maintenance orders are enforced efficiently and compassionately. Successful candidates will join a committed team dedicated to upholding the Maintenance Act and fostering access to justice for all South Africans.

Why Maintenance Investigators Matter

Maintenance Investigators play a pivotal role in the delivery of justice services. By serving summonses, subpoenas, warrants, and garnishee orders, they ensure that maintenance obligations are enforced, directly impacting the welfare of children and dependents. In this capacity, investigators:

  • Locate and verify the whereabouts of maintenance debtors
  • Serve legal documents in terms of the Maintenance Act
  • Provide testimony in court under oath
  • Render administrative support to magistrate’s offices

With eight posts available, the Department aims to strengthen its capacity in key magistrate’s offices in Alice, Peddie, Tsolo, Whittlesea, Mitchells Plain, Lichtenburg, Randburg, and Soshanguve.
