In a bold step toward youth empowerment and skills development, CPD Academy, in partnership with Legend Logistics and SG Coal, has launched a comprehensive Logistics and Transport Learnership Programme at the Delmas Development Centre in Delmas, Mpumalanga. This collaborative effort aims to equip unemployed youth with critical knowledge and hands-on experience in the transport and logistics sector—a key driver of South Africa’s economic infrastructure.
Bridging the Gap Between Training and Employment
The South African logistics industry is one of the most vital sectors supporting national and international trade. However, access to quality training and job opportunities has been limited for many unemployed youth, particularly in rural areas. The CPD Academy–Legend Logistics–SG Coal partnership directly addresses this challenge by offering a structured learnership that combines theoretical classroom learning with practical workplace experience.
This programme, hosted at the state-of-the-art Delmas Development Centre, is not just about learning; it’s about building a career path in the booming transport and logistics field. Learners will be introduced to core industry standards, compliance, transport operations, freight handling, vehicle safety, and route planning—all critical components of the logistics supply chain.
Who Can Apply?
The learnership is targeted at unemployed youth, ideally those who:
- Are South African citizens
- Have completed Grade 12 (Matric)
- Are aged between 25–45 years
- Are interested in a career in logistics and transportation
- Reside in or near Delmas, Mpumalanga
This initiative is inclusive and encourages the participation of female applicants and persons with disabilities, aligning with national priorities of transformation and economic inclusion.
Why This Learnership Stands Out
Unlike traditional training programmes, this learnership offers real exposure to logistics operations through the involvement of two leading companies:
- Legend Logistics, a trusted name in freight transport and supply chain solutions
- SG Coal, one of the largest coal logistics companies in the country, with extensive fleet management and delivery systems
These industry partners ensure that learners don’t just receive theoretical instruction but also gain relevant workplace experience, increasing their employability in a highly competitive job market.
Benefits of Participating
Learners in this programme will receive:
- A monthly stipend (amount varies depending on sponsor terms)
- Nationally recognized accredited training
- Exposure to career opportunities in one of South Africa’s fastest-growing sectors
- Mentorship from experienced professionals in logistics and transportation
How to Apply
Interested candidates are advised to prepare:
- A certified copy of their ID
- A certified copy of their Matric certificate
- An updated CV
- Proof of residence (preferably from Delmas or surrounding areas)
