Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
  • Computer literacy and attention to accuracy
  • Recommendation/nomination letter as an ICCV from a community organisation (not older than six months)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Sound knowledge of Batho Pele principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Assertiveness and professionalism
  • Driver’s licence (advantageous)

Preference will be given to candidates living near the correctional centre.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Visit correctional centres daily
  • Engage with inmates and officials regarding complaints
  • Monitor incarceration conditions
  • Report on deaths, segregation, mechanical restraints, and use of force
  • Support JICS inspections and investigations
  • Handle administrative tasks
  • Capture inmate complaints
  • Compile detailed reports
