Communicare, one of South Africa’s leading social housing institutions, is opening doors for unemployed youth through its 2026 Learnership Programme. This initiative aims to equip young people with practical workplace skills and nationally recognised qualifications across multiple fields. Each learnership runs for 12 months and offers participants the chance to gain valuable experience while contributing to the organisation’s impact in housing and community development.

Below are the various learnership fields, along with the minimum qualifications and key duties required:

  1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
  • Qualifications: National Diploma/Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Duties: Collecting data, assisting with project reporting, compiling performance dashboards, and supporting compliance with monitoring frameworks.
  1. Asset Management
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Asset Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related fields.
  • Duties: Updating and tracking asset registers, assisting with audits, monitoring asset utilisation, and ensuring compliance with asset policies.
  1. Marketing and Communications
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Media Studies.
  • Duties: Supporting campaigns, content creation for digital platforms, handling internal communications, and assisting with branding initiatives.
  1. Information Technology (IT)
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Systems Development, or Computer Science.
  • Duties: Providing IT support, troubleshooting systems, maintaining hardware/software, and assisting with database and network management.
  1. Property Development and Investment
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Property Studies, Real Estate, Quantity Surveying, or related disciplines.
  • Duties: Supporting feasibility studies, assisting with project planning, liaising with contractors, and monitoring property investment activities.
  1. Finance
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Auditing.
  • Duties: Assisting with reconciliations, capturing financial transactions, processing invoices, supporting audits, and financial reporting.
  1. Learning and Development
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Development, Education, or Training Management.
  • Duties: Assisting with training logistics, capturing attendance, supporting e-learning platforms, and coordinating employee skills programmes.
  1. Property Management (Facilities)
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Facilities Management, Property Management, or Built Environment.
  • Duties: Assisting with tenant relations, ensuring building maintenance, coordinating service providers, and handling compliance checks.
  1. Data Analyst
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related fields.
  • Duties: Collecting and cleaning datasets, preparing reports, supporting dashboards, and analysing trends to guide decision-making.
  1. Human Capital
  • Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or Labour Relations.
  • Duties: Supporting recruitment processes, maintaining employee records, assisting with payroll and benefits, and ensuring compliance with HR policies.
