About the Programme
The learnership provides participants with structured training and on-the-job experience in mining operations. Successful applicants will work in a challenging yet rewarding environment, gaining exposure that equips them to compete in South Africa’s dynamic mining industry.
Applicants must be willing to work underground and undergo a medical fitness examination, ensuring they are physically fit for duty. The programme also emphasizes workplace safety, teamwork, and career development within the mining sector.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for the learnership, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Completed Grade 9 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Science, or Communications and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1.
- South African Citizenship is compulsory.
- Must hold a valid certificate of fitness (red ticket) or be willing to undergo a medical fitness test.
Advantageous qualifications/experience include:
- Level 2 National Certificate in Mining Operations.
- Previous team leader experience.
Key Responsibilities
Learners will be expected to:
- Provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV), certified copy of ID, and all academic results to date.
- Complete the required medical examinations for fitness.
- Commit to training and practical experience underground as part of the learnership structure.
