Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) continues its mission of empowering communities by opening applications for its highly regarded Learnership and Technical Apprenticeship Programmes. This opportunity is designed for young South Africans who are passionate about pursuing a career in the technical and trade fields, with training facilitated by the Technical Learning Academy (TLA). The programme is also supported by the Union as part of Volkswagen’s commitment to skills development, transformation, and community upliftment.
About the Opportunity
The Volkswagen Group South Africa Learnership Programme provides access to full-time Technical/Trade-related training across several disciplines. The programme aims to equip participants with hands-on skills and knowledge essential for the automotive and manufacturing industries.
Available apprenticeship fields include:
- Electrical
- Mechanical Fitter
- Millwright
- Automotive Motor Mechanic
- Tool Making
- Welding
- Transportation Electrician
- Mechatronics Technician
Participants will gain invaluable exposure to practical and theoretical training, while learning in a world-class environment within VWSA’s Technical Learning Academy.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) with a pass in Core Mathematics and Physical Science (Maths Literacy will not be accepted).
- N3 Certificate with four subjects, including Core Mathematics and Physical Science, or higher.
Candidate Expectations
- Applicants will undergo interviews and be assessed by an interview panel.
- A first choice and second choice field of training must be clearly indicated.
- Must be prepared to complete part-time studies while on the programme.
- Will not be expected to work overtime unless specifically authorised.
- Internal VW employees must provide their current job title and SAP number.
Note: Employees who have previously qualified through the TLA Apprenticeship/Learnership will not be considered. Successful internal candidates will return to a vacant production role upon completion.
