South Africa’s digital transformation journey continues to grow, and with it comes exciting opportunities for young people to take the lead. The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) is calling on motivated individuals to apply for the Ya Rona Digital Ambassador Programme, offering 10 six-month contract posts in the Western Cape. This is your chance to become a digital skills leader in your community while gaining valuable experience in the growing digital economy.
Where You’ll Be Based
Successful applicants will be placed in the following Western Cape District Municipalities:
- West Coast District Municipality
- Overberg District Municipality
- Central Karoo District Municipality
These ambassadors will serve as champions of digital literacy, ensuring that communities in these regions are not left behind in South Africa’s journey towards a knowledge-driven society.
Main Purpose of the Job
The Digital Ambassador Programme is designed to empower communities with basic digital literacy skills. Ambassadors will not only learn essential skills themselves but also pass that knowledge on to others, helping to close the digital divide in rural and semi-urban areas.
Key job objectives include:
- Learning digital literacy modules provided by NEMISA.
- Actively participating in training sessions to gain adequate knowledge.
- Delivering community training sessions on basic digital skills.
- Coordinating with the Project Manager to secure training venues.
- Meeting weekly targets of trained citizens.
- Submitting weekly progress reports to the Project Manager.
This hands-on role blends learning, teaching, and leadership—making it ideal for energetic young people passionate about making a difference.
Educational Requirements
To apply, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Basic computer literacy.
Ideal applicants will also have:
- Post-matric qualification (college, technikon, or university).
- A Computer certificate.
Applicants will be expected to attend training on NEMISA’s identified digital literacy modules before delivering community training.
