The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Labour Activation Programme (LAP), in partnership with Mahube Training & Development, is opening doors for unemployed South Africans through a new Electrical Engineering NQF Level 2 Learnership Programme. This initiative is a valuable opportunity aimed at empowering 50 unemployed individuals with practical skills and work experience that can pave the way to sustainable employment.

A Step Towards Skills Development

South Africa continues to face high unemployment rates, especially among young people. Programmes like the UIF LAP are designed to bridge this gap by not only providing theoretical knowledge but also practical workplace exposure. The partnership with Mahube Training & Development as the implementing agent ensures that learners will receive structured training aligned with industry standards.

Learnership Details

  • Programme: Electrical Engineering NQF Level 2
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Stipend: R3,000 per month
  • Location: Modimolle only
  • Available Positions: 50

This 12-month programme will allow participants to gain hands-on training in the field of electrical engineering, equipping them with critical skills that can lead to employment in the energy, construction, and technical sectors. The monthly stipend ensures that learners can focus on their studies and workplace training without the burden of financial strain.

 

 

Who Can Apply?

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of Grade 12
  • Additional Requirement: Must be a previous UIF contributor
  • Age: Between 18 and 40 years
  • Residency: Must be willing to attend training in Modimolle

This programme is specifically targeted at unemployed individuals who have previously contributed to the UIF, ensuring that contributors benefit from reinvestment into skills and employment creation initiatives.

Application Process

Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure their place. To apply, hand deliver the following documents to the Department of Employment & Labour in Modimolle:

  • A comprehensive CV
  • Certified copy of Grade 12 Certificate
  • Certified copy of South African ID

The submission of complete and clear documentation is essential, as incomplete applications will not be considered.
