Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Labour Activation Programme (LAP) for 2025

The high rate of unemployment in South Africa has long been a national concern. In a strategic effort to address this challenge, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF)—a branch of the Department of Employment and Labour—has implemented the Labour Activation Programme (LAP) to boost employability among job seekers. In its latest initiative, UIF has partnered with Keylord, a skills development and training provider, to deliver impactful training and employment opportunities for thousands of unemployed South Africans.

What is the Labour Activation Programme (LAP)?

The Labour Activation Programme is an intervention by UIF designed to reintroduce the unemployed into the labour market through targeted training and employment projects. It not only aims to upskill participants but also ensures their placement in sustainable job opportunities. These programmes are tailored to align with South Africa’s economic needs, focusing on areas like construction, hospitality, IT, agriculture, manufacturing, and more.

This Programme seeks to recruit 250 unemployed people from Musina Municipality between the ages of 18 and 45 (who have Grade 9 to 12) to participate in the following skills programmes for six months:

  • Cleaning and Hygiene
  • Solar Installation
  • New Venture Creation
  • Scooter Driver and
  • System Support.
