About the Programme
The Transnet Young Professionals in Training Programme is a structured 24-month development initiative that provides recent graduates with hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to various business units within Transnet. The programme is aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and the professional environment by providing practical skills that align with South Africa’s developmental and economic goals.
During the programme, participants are assigned to different divisions, where they are given projects, rotational duties, and leadership exposure. This ensures that graduates gain a holistic understanding of how the organisation operates while building strong career foundations.
POSITION PURPOSE
Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy is looking for dynamic and recently qualified graduates for a two-year programme (24 months programme). This programme will provide the incumbents with relevant workplace experience through a structured learning programme and organizational support.
POSITION OUTPUTS
- As a Young-Professional-In-Training, your responsibilities include shadowing various staff members, participating in learning experiences, attending meetings and workshops, with exposure to other working functions to gain practical experience in the following deliverables:
- Communicate with customers to ensure a clear understanding of their needs, including the level of urgency as well as keep them updated regularly on the progress of their requirements.
- Ensure that queries are addressed in a satisfactory and timeous manner.
- Provide general administrative, research and assistance.
- Take work briefs/instructions from Mentor and/or Specialist to structure the work required to produce specific deliverables.
- Execute project work task effectively and efficiently as an individual and collaboratively.
- Produce quality work that can be used as input to develop the most appropriate project solutions for the client.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Laws. Completed Articles or admitted as an Attorney. OR
- National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management OR
- Bachelor Degree in Data Science/Statistics OR
- National Diploma /Degree in Digital Marketing/Communications OR
- Â National Diploma/BCom Degree in Human Resources or related qualification OR
- BCom Degree in Finance/Cost Management/Internal Audit OR
- National Diploma / Degree in Safety Management/Environmental Health or related OR
- National Diploma or BCom Degree in Environmental Management/related qualification
- 0-1 Year experience.
- MS Office Packages.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Age between 18-35.
COMPETENCIES
- Good written and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to work well within a team.
- Problem solving and pays attention to detail.
