About the Programme
The Quality In-Service Trainees Internship Programme is designed specifically for students who have completed two years of study toward a National Diploma in Food Technology and require one year of in-service training to graduate. NBL provides a structured, supportive environment where interns can apply their academic knowledge in real-world factory settings, ensuring exposure to quality control processes, food safety protocols, and production standards of an internationally respected food brand.
Internship Locations and Opportunities
National Brands Limited is offering six in-service training placements across three of its well-established manufacturing sites:
- Rosslyn Snacks Factory (Pretoria) – 2 Positions Available
This facility focuses on the production of savoury snacks. Interns at this site will gain insight into the processes and standards governing snack manufacturing, including sensory evaluation, quality checks, and packaging quality assurance. - Westmead Biscuits Factory, Pinetown (Durban) – 2 Positions Available
The Westmead factory produces a wide range of biscuits for South African consumers. Trainees here will experience in-depth training on hygiene controls, microbiological sampling, ingredient integrity checks, and biscuit production quality. - Isando Biscuits Factory, Kempton Park (Johannesburg) – 2 Positions Available
Interns at Isando will be immersed in high-volume biscuit manufacturing, working alongside experienced QA professionals to maintain compliance with safety and food quality standards. Exposure includes product shelf-life testing, analytical reporting, and root cause analysis for quality deviations.
Candidate Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a two-year National Diploma in Food Technology
- Only require one additional year of in-service training to complete their qualification
- Be hardworking, analytical, and committed to quality standards
- Be willing to relocate or travel to any of the listed factory locations
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and a passion for the food industry
