In an era driven by digital transformation, empowering young people with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills is not just a priority—it’s a necessity. The Vodacom Foundation Youth Academy IT Learnership Programme stands as a powerful response to this call, equipping unemployed South African youth with the technical and professional skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy.
About the Vodacom Youth Academy IT Learnership Programme
Launched by the Vodacom Foundation—the CSI (Corporate Social Investment) arm of Vodacom—the Youth Academy was established with the purpose of bridging the digital divide and reducing unemployment by training young people in ICT-related disciplines. The initiative is implemented in partnership with accredited training providers, including Cisco, MICT SETA, and various TVET colleges across the country.
The programme targets unemployed youth aged 18 to 34, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds. It offers a full-time, structured 12-month National Certificate in IT: Technical Support (NQF Level 4), fully funded by the Vodacom Foundation. Learners receive both theoretical classroom instruction and practical hands-on training, enabling them to become job-ready in roles such as IT technicians, support specialists, and systems administrators.
