Thekwini TVET College and INSETA WIL Programme for 2025

Thekwini TVET College and INSETA WIL Programme for 2025

Thekwini TVET College, a leader in vocational and technical education in South Africa, continues to make impactful strides in bridging the gap between education and employment. In a progressive partnership with the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), the college has launched a dynamic Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme tailored for students who have completed their N6 qualifications in Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Business Management, and Marketing Management.

This collaboration is not only a testament to Thekwini TVET College’s commitment to producing work-ready graduates but also highlights INSETA’s dedication to developing skills that align with the needs of South Africa’s evolving economy.

What is the WIL Programme?

The Work Integrated Learning Programme is designed to provide graduates with the practical experience required to complete their diplomas. Many students complete their N6 studies but struggle to find relevant workplace experience. This programme offers a structured pathway where theory meets practice, giving students the opportunity to gain real-world exposure in their respective fields.

Through placements in businesses, organisations, and industry partners, participants can apply their classroom knowledge in professional environments—enhancing their technical skills, improving their communication abilities, and cultivating a deeper understanding of the workplace.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to students who have completed their N6 qualifications in the following areas:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Business Management
  • Marketing Management

Applicants must be graduates from Thekwini TVET College and be eligible for experiential learning to qualify for a National Diploma. Preference may be given to youth who are unemployed, South African citizens, and those who have not previously benefited from similar programmes.

Why This Matters

Youth unemployment remains one of South Africa’s greatest challenges. Programmes like this are critical because they offer:

  • Practical Experience: Participants gain on-the-job training, enhancing their employability.
  • Diploma Completion: The required 18 months of workplace learning allows them to apply for their National Diploma.
  • Industry Networking: Students build relationships with potential employers and industry leaders.
  • Stipends and Support: In many cases, learners may receive a monthly stipend to ease financial pressure during the training period.

How to Apply

Applicants need to submit:

  • Certified ID copy
  • Certified copies of N4–N6 certificates
  • Updated CV
  • Letter of interest or motivational statement

Applications must be hand delivered at the Thekwini TVET College Skills Unit (Asherville Campus)
