What the Learnership Programme Offers
The Electrical Engineering Learnership at South Deep Gold Mine is structured to provide both theoretical classroom training and hands-on practical experience in a real mining environment. It is designed in alignment with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB) standards, ensuring learners receive nationally recognized training.
Key Features:
- Duration: 24 months
- Accredited NQF Level 2–4 qualification
- On-site mentorship by experienced electricians
- Exposure to underground and surface electrical systems
- Monthly stipend to support learners financially
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of a full N3 qualifications with 4 subjects i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electrical Trade theory and Industrial Electronics
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat
- Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Undergoing technical training as prescribed by MQA and short courses as required by the mine during the Learnership Maintain consistent performance
- Initiating developmental discussions
- Seeking feedback
- Adhering to the company`s conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct
- Abide by all health and safety rules / regulations applicable on the mine.
- Promoting of teamwork and being an effective team member.
- Wearing all the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) while on mine/ at the training centre
- Abide by the values of South Deep Gold Mine i.e. safety, integrity, respect, responsibility, innovation, and collaborative delivery
