About the Department of Tourism

The Department of Tourism is responsible for creating conditions for sustainable tourism growth and development in South Africa. The Department supports policy implementation, tourism skills development, job creation, and strengthening the tourism sector as part of the national economy.

This internship programme forms part of the Department’s commitment to developing young professionals who can meaningfully contribute to South Africa’s tourism, administration, ICT, governance, research and policy sectors.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be an unemployed South African graduate or postgraduate
  • Hold a tertiary qualification related to one of the listed fields
  • Be 35 years or younger
  • Have never participated in any internship programme in any department
  • Be willing to sign a 24-month internship contract

Additional Information

  • Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed to determine suitability.
  • If you do not hear back within 3 months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
