NEMISA Cellphone Repair Training Programme for 2025

NEMISA Cellphone Repair Training Programme for 2025

In a bold move to tackle youth unemployment and empower young South Africans with practical, income-generating skills, the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) has launched a Cellphone Repair Training Programme tailored for unemployed youth. With the rapid growth in mobile technology usage across the country, this initiative offers a timely and valuable opportunity to tap into one of the most in-demand technical skills of the modern era.

Bridging the Skills Gap in the Digital Economy

South Africa’s digital economy continues to expand, and the demand for mobile device repair services is on the rise. Recognising this, NEMISA – a leading institution under the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies – is equipping unemployed youth with hands-on technical training that can lead to immediate job creation or entrepreneurial ventures.

The Cellphone Repair Training Programme is part of NEMISA’s broader Digital Skills Development Strategy. It is designed to help participants acquire core competencies in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile devices – particularly smartphones. The training includes both theory and extensive practical work, allowing learners to gain real-world skills that can be used to start a repair business or gain employment in the telecoms and electronics sector.

What the Programme Offers

Participants in the programme benefit from:

  • Practical, accredited training in cellphone diagnostics, fault detection, and repair
  • Exposure to common hardware and software issues in smartphones and how to fix them
  • Entrepreneurial support, including how to start and manage a mobile repair business
  • A certificate of completion, boosting employability and credibility in the marketplace

The programme also provides mentorship and career guidance, ensuring that youth are not only trained but also prepared to transition into self-employment or job placement.
