Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Completed NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following fields:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Environmental Management
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Nuclear Engineering
- Minimum of 1-year regulatory experience or relevant industry exposure
- Must be a South African citizen
Knowledge Areas
Candidates must demonstrate understanding of key areas related to nuclear regulation and safety, including:
- Radiation Protection
- Nuclear Safety
- Waste Safety
- Transport Safety
- Environmental Protection
Skills Development and Training Focus
The training programme will involve both practical and analytical work. Trainees will:
- Participate in compliance assurance activities such as planned and unplanned inspections, environmental sampling, investigations, nuclear emergency exercises, and radiological confirmatory surveys.
- Assist in reviewing compliance reports to ensure they meet regulatory standards and requirements.
- Participate in laboratory work, reviewing analysis results and supporting technical evaluations.
- Gain exposure to project review meetings and nuclear regulatory assessments.
