About the Internship
The successful candidate will join the Strategic Communications team, contributing to the City’s brand identity, marketing materials, digital content, and promotional campaigns across multiple departments.
This internship provides hands-on experience in:
- Graphic design for print and digital platforms
- Social media visual content
- Branding and visual identity
- Infographics, animations, and multimedia
- Concept creation, design drafting and layout development
- Working with high-level stakeholders in Group Finance and related entities

Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
- Graphic Design
- Computer Graphics
- Visual Arts
- Marketing
- Web Design
- Or a related creative field
- Strong knowledge of graphic design principles and tools
- Ability to work with software such as:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Photoshop
- InDesign
- After Effects
- Premiere Pro
- Toon Boom (advantageous)
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
Primary Function of the Role
The intern will support the City’s Communications and Stakeholder Management Unit by:
- Creating original graphic design material
- Developing comprehensive layouts and visual concepts
- Managing design projects from start to completion
- Producing digital and print visual content
- Supporting internal departments with visual communication material
- Designing illustrations, infographics, and multimedia content
- Ensuring brand consistency across City platforms
- Collaborating with Group Finance units including:
- Group Treasury
- Revenue Shared Services Centre
- Supply Chain Management
- Group Accounting
- Group Property
- And others
