The Eastern Cape Department of Education is offering bursaries for B.Ed Qualification in the following:
- BEd Foundation Phase – 200 Bursaries
- BEd Special Needs – 100 Bursaries

Target
- Unqualified and under qualified educators
- Educators that are displaced to redirect their skills as a way of addressing the sector challenges and to meet the job profile
Foundation Phase
- ECD Practitioners already in the system
- Mode of delivery will be block sessions
Special needs
- Displaced and additional educators
- Implementation will be block sessions at any higher institution of learning by the department
Unqualified and under qualified educators are encouraged to apply and will be prioritised.
Criteria for Employees
- Applicants must be permanently employed by the Eastern Cape Department of Education
- Applicants must apply and provide proof of acceptance
- Due to the high number of unqualified and under qualified educators, the Department is compelled to give preference to these educators.
