Position Purpose
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme is specially designed for newly qualified artisans who hold a recognised Red Seal trade certificate. Its goal is to help trainees gain practical, workplace-based experience and apply what they have learned during their vocational training.
Over the 24-month programme, learners will receive hands-on exposure, on-the-job mentorship, and involvement in technical duties that build confidence and improve employability in the engineering and maintenance fields.
Key Responsibilities
As a WIL Trainee, your duties will include:
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Diagnosing mechanical and technical faults
- Carrying out repairs and troubleshooting
- Ensuring full compliance with safety and operational standards
- Maintaining tools, machines, and workshop equipment
- Documenting work performed and submitting reports to supervisors
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
To qualify for the programme, you must:
- Have a Red Seal Trade Test Certificate in one of the following:
- Pattern Maker
- Motor Mechanic
- Plumber
- Have completed your trade test within the past 4 years
- Be a South African youth aged 18–35
- Have less than 1 year of working experience
- Be willing to learn, follow instructions, and work in a technical environment
- Be available for the full 24-month training period
