What You Will Learn

As a Fitter & Electrical Fitter Apprentice, you will be exposed to various aspects of engineering and plant operations. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting Qualified Artisans – Work alongside experienced Fitters and Electrical Fitters in maintaining, repairing, and installing machinery.
  2. Technical Drawing & Schematics – Learn to read and interpret complex technical diagrams that guide equipment assembly and repairs.
  3. Preventative Maintenance – Participate in routine inspections and tasks designed to extend the life of plant machinery.
  4. Compliance & Safety – Gain a deep understanding of workplace safety regulations and company-specific procedures.
  5. Training & Development – Attend both theoretical sessions and practical workshops that will shape your technical expertise.

By the end of this programme, apprentices will have developed the knowledge, confidence, and skill set required to excel as a fully qualified Artisan.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 apprenticeship programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • N2 Certificate or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (advantageous).
  • Ability to pass internal competency tests.
  • Must provide proof of residential address (Lekwa Municipality).
  • South African youth under 35 years will be given preference.
