Selection Criteria

To be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet strict academic requirements:

  • Grade 12 learners must achieve an overall average of 70% or higher, with at least 65% in Mathematics and/or Physical Science (for engineering-related fields).
  • Current Grade 12 learners must submit their latest third-term results.
  • Tertiary students must provide their final matric certificate and maintain a minimum average of 65% in their most recent semester results.
  • Final-year results will also form part of the selection criteria for shortlisted candidates.

 

 

Fields of Study Covered

The bursary supports students intending to study or currently pursuing qualifications in:

  • Engineering & Technology: Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Development, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Metrology, and Metallurgy.
  • Sciences: Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (BSc).
  • Business & Management: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics.
  • Other Disciplines: Human Kinetics & Ergonomics.

Who Can Apply?

  • South African citizens are eligible.
  • Preference will be given to residents of the Eastern Cape and children of MBSA employees.
  • Grade 12 learners, first-year students, and those already enrolled in full-time tertiary studies are encouraged to apply.

Who may not apply? Employees of Mercedes-Benz South Africa Group of Companies are not eligible.
