The City of Tshwane is calling on unemployed graduates and final-year students to apply for its Work-Integrated Learning, Experiential Training, and Internship Programme for 2026. This initiative is part of the municipality’s commitment to youth development, social inclusion, and bridging the gap between academic qualifications and workplace experience.
Through this programme, the City aims to create a database of candidates who will be appointed on fixed-term contracts for a period of 12, 18, or 24 months, depending on the field of study. Special attention is given to students with disabilities, ensuring reasonable accommodation in line with institutional thresholds and programme requirements.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Must have completed a tertiary qualification.
- Eligible Categories:
- Final-year university students who have completed all academic modules except work-integrated learning
- Holders of an N6 certificate
- Students with a three-year diploma or national diploma
- Students with a bachelor’s degree
- Other Requirements:
- Must require practical work experience of 12, 18, or 24 months to fulfil graduation requirements.
- Qualified graduates with no previous work exposure are welcome.
- Applicants must be permanent residents within the City of Tshwane municipal area.
Applicants will need to provide supporting documentation such as:
- Certified copy of ID
- Academic record and qualifications (if completed)
- Proof of residence
Screening of qualifications and a criminal record check will be conducted before training offers are finalised.
Contract Duration
Successful candidates will be appointed under a City of Tshwane Student-in-Training Contract, with duration based on the type of institution:
- Universities – 12 months
- Colleges (Generic Fields) – 18 months
- Colleges (Technical Fields) – 24 months
During this period, students will receive structured training under the supervision of dedicated mentors, ensuring both professional growth and the fulfilment of academic requirements.
