This 12-month structured opportunity offers unemployed youth the chance to gain hands-on experience in debt management while earning an NQF Level 4 qualification. The programme is designed to equip learners with the technical, legal, and interpersonal skills required to thrive in the financial services sector.
About the Programme
The learnership provides practical exposure to critical debt recovery processes such as collections, portfolio management, and legal handovers. Participants will also gain experience in stakeholder engagement while developing strong professional communication and negotiation skills.
Learners will be directly involved in day-to-day operations, ensuring that by the end of the programme, they will have acquired real workplace experience and a recognised qualification.
Key Learning Areas
Learners will be trained and mentored across multiple areas, including:
- Debt Collections: Securing payment commitments from members in arrears.
- Client Correspondence: Managing queries, responding to member requests, and maintaining accurate communication records.
- Portfolio Management: Recording member details, monitoring collection activities, and ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Legal Administration: Assisting with repossessions, handling legal handovers, and supporting attorneys in debt recovery processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaising with valuators, tracers, sheriffs, lien holders, and debt collectors.
- Reporting & Compliance: Preparing progress updates, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring professional service delivery.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African citizen with a valid ID.
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and/or Accounting.
- Must be unemployed and not currently enrolled in any studies.
- Open to previously disadvantaged youth in line with transformation initiatives.
- Fully available to start in November 2025 and commit for the full 12-month duration.
Programme Details
- Duration: 12 months (November 2025 – October 2026).
- Monthly Allowance: R5,000 to support learners during the training.
- Intake: Limited to only 6 learners, ensuring personalised mentorship and maximum learning exposure.
- Qualification: NQF Level 4 in Debt Recovery upon successful completion.
