Purpose of the Role

The Logistics Management Trainee position is a permanent developmental role that exposes candidates to all aspects of logistics operations across Econofoods’ seven national distribution centres and retail supply chain. Key Responsibilities

As part of the programme, trainees will:

  • Reporting & Analytics – Generate weekly and monthly reports, maintain dashboards, and track KPIs such as truck turnaround time, OTIF (On Time In Full), and picking accuracy.
  • Auditing & Compliance – Conduct on-site audits to verify adherence to SOPs in receiving, dispatch, inventory, and cold chain practices.
  • On-Site Engagement – Travel to distribution centres, B2B clients, and retail stores to build relationships and observe operations first-hand.
  • Training Support – Assist in planning and co-facilitating logistics training sessions, while tracking attendance and feedback.
  • Safety & Compliance – Support health, safety, food safety, and cold chain standards through audits and toolbox talks.
  • Inventory & Transport – Assist regional leaders with transport and stock-related tasks.
  • Customer Service & Collaboration – Engage with customers to understand pain points and work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Cost Containment – Identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and implement cost-saving initiatives across logistics operations.
