Teraco Graduate Internship Programme 2025

Teraco Data Environments, Africa’s leading provider of carrier-neutral data centres, has opened applications for its prestigious Graduate Internship Programme. This programme offers young graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and technical expertise in one of the fastest-growing sectors in South Africa—the data centre and ICT industry. With an emphasis on practical learning, professional development, and mentorship, the Teraco programme is designed to nurture future leaders in engineering.

The graduate internship is structured to expose participants to the full breadth of Teraco’s operations, with opportunities to specialize in key technical areas. Successful candidates will be placed in dynamic teams that drive innovation in infrastructure, sustainability, and advanced technology systems.

Available Graduate Internship Streams

  1. Graduate: Electrical Engineer

Interns in this stream will work on the design, maintenance, and improvement of electrical systems within Teraco’s facilities. With the data centre industry heavily reliant on uninterrupted power, this role focuses on energy distribution, fault analysis, and efficiency improvements.
Qualification required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering.

  1. Graduate: Electrical/Electronic Engineer (Control Engineer)

This role focuses on automation, control systems, and monitoring technology to ensure that data centres run efficiently and without interruption. Graduates will learn to work with Building Management Systems (BMS) and other advanced controls.
Qualification required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, with a specialization in control systems or automation.

  1. Graduate: Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems are vital in data centres to maintain optimal environmental conditions for servers. Interns in this stream will gain experience in managing cooling loads, air distribution, and energy-efficient climate control solutions.
Qualification required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.

  1. Graduate: Mechanical Engineer (Wet Service / Diesel)

This role covers diesel fuel systems, water services, and related infrastructure that support uninterrupted operations in data centres. Interns will work on projects linked to back-up power systems and auxiliary mechanical infrastructure.
Qualification required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with exposure to diesel systems or wet services.

  1. Graduate: Mechanical Engineer (Computational Fluid Dynamics – CFD)

CFD engineers analyze airflow, cooling efficiency, and energy use within data centres. Interns in this stream will use advanced simulation tools to model and optimize performance, supporting Teraco’s drive for innovation in sustainable design.
Qualification required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with strong coursework or project experience in CFD.
