South Deep Gold Mine is opening doors for aspiring employees and prospective applicants from within its host communities by offering a formal Learner Miner Learnership Programme. Who Can Apply?

To be considered for the South Deep Gold Mine Mining Learnership, applicants must be from one of the mine’s host communities, namely:

  • Bekkersdaal
  • Zuurberkom
  • Thusanang
  • Hillshaven
  • Westonaria
  • Poortjie
  • Simunye
  • Kalbasfontein
  • Jachtfontein

Applicants should either:

  • Reside permanently in one of the listed host communities, or
  • Have successfully completed Grade 12/matric at a school located within one of these communities.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent N3 qualification (with two languages passed).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a mining operation.
  • Medical Fitness: Must be declared medically fit for the position and mining environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre. This includes passing a Heat Tolerance Screening test and other relevant assessments.
