WHAT IS THE ROADSHOW ALL ABOUT?
Newzroom Afrika is taking its search for the next big sport presenter to the streets. Through a national roadshow, the channel is visiting multiple provinces to scout talented individuals who have the voice, presence, knowledge, and passion for sports media. This isn’t your typical audition — it’s an opportunity to receive hands-on experience, mentorship from media professionals, and potentially land a spot on one of South Africa’s most watched platforms.
This initiative is part of Newzroom Afrika’s broader commitment to transformation, skills development, and the cultivation of homegrown talent in the media landscape. It is particularly significant at a time when the demand for diverse and relatable on-air personalities continues to grow.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
The roadshow is open to young, energetic, and sports-savvy individuals from all walks of life. Whether you’ve got experience in community radio, studied journalism, or simply have a burning passion for sports and storytelling, this is your moment.
Ideal candidates must be:
- Confident, charismatic individuals with a strong knowledge of sports.
- Sharp storytelling skills and an eye for compelling sports content.
- On-camera presence and/or behind-the-scenes production experience.
- A fresh voice and perspective ready to connect with sports audiences.
- Journalism Degree or equivalent
- Be a South African Citizen
- Good command of English and other African languages
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:
At each roadshow stop, hopefuls will be given a short screen test and asked to deliver a brief sports news segment or commentary. A panel of professionals from Newzroom Afrika’s production and sports teams will assess each audition based on delivery, content knowledge, confidence, and originality.
Selected candidates from each region will move on to a final selection process, where they may receive training and mentorship and potentially be integrated into Newzroom Afrika’s growing pool of on-air talent.
