QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Grade 10 and Basic Literacy
Valid C1 Driver’s License
PDP/ Certificate on transportation of dangerous goods will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1-3 years relevant experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing activities associated with the operation of a Jetpatcher at the construction sites or during general maintenance works related to potholes patching, edge deterioration and cracking according to laid down procedures and specific instructions through.
Driving and maneuvering the Jet Patcher Truck and engaging controls to operate mechanisms to enable spraying, filling, sealing and levelling sequences.
Cleaning of the site surface through the removal of loose debris like chipped tires, steal objects prior working on the affected site (Potholes, Road edges or cracks).
Preparing and coating the affected road site with the asphalt emulsion which seals the pothole and prevents further damage from occurring, due to moisture.
Filling in the cracks/holes or edges on the road using high-velocity air nozzle to deliver a mixture of cold-applied bitumen emulsion and aggregate into the cracks/ holes or edges at 100kph for a tight seal.
Spraying, sealing and drying the patched surfaces by using crasher sand to avoid it from being damaged by the moving traffic.
Inspecting of safety devices, controls, lubricant levels, etc. Jet Patcher Truck, and verbally reports defects to the immediate superior if any.

Depressurizing of the vessels/tanks prior getting the truck in motion to site and back to avoid bursting or explosion in case of any metal corrosion or collision.
Preliminary operational maintenance on site to ensure regular and effective functioning of the patcher.
Pouring of the kerosene overnight for removal of the remaining emulsion.
Removing of the filter, spray ring and the end nozzle for overnight soaking.
Flushing of the Jet Patcher by using the kerosene, removing debris using pressurized hose and specific cleaning material and/or attending to the basic removal/ replacement of defective parts (tires, etc.).
Ensure that all required tools and materials are readily available for effective execution and successful completion of the assigned tasks in compliance with the departmental processes, procedures and safety rules.
Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety precautions in relation to chemical and hazardous substances handling.

Design – ability to interpret design in accordance with engineering standards.
Project Management – ability to plan, co-ordinate and control the tasks of self and others in the delivery, operations and maintenance of infrastructure and other tasks, to the required specifications and within budget schedule.
Construction – knowledge of construction and maintenance processes, monitors compliance to design specifications, health safety regulations.
Operations and Maintenance – the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with people within and outside of the municipality.
