Traffic Officer Training Programme for 2025

 

In a bold and progressive move towards enhancing road safety and law enforcement, the Lephalale Local Municipality has launched the Traffic Officer Training Programme. This initiative aims to empower unemployed youth in the Limpopo province by offering them structured, accredited training that leads to a career in traffic law enforcement. As road safety becomes an increasing concern across South Africa, this programme is both timely and impactful, offering not just skills development but also a gateway to formal employment in the public sector.

WHAT IS THE LEPHALALE TRAFFIC OFFICER TRAINEE PROGRAMME?

The Traffic Officer Training Programme is a learnership initiative designed to train aspiring traffic officers in line with national and provincial legislation. Trainees will be enrolled in the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s (RTMC) registered training centres, where they will complete the Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement (NQF Level 4).

The programme is not just about theoretical learning; it includes intensive practical exposure, fieldwork, and simulations. Upon successful completion, participants will be certified as traffic officers and will be eligible for placement in various municipal or provincial traffic departments, depending on vacancies and performance.

 

 

KEY BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS:

  • Accredited Qualification: Completion leads to an NQF Level 4 certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement.
  • Monthly Stipend: Trainees receive a monthly allowance during the duration of the programme. (R100 000 p.a)
  • Employment Pathway: Outstanding candidates may be considered for permanent employment by the Lephalale Municipality or other government agencies.
  • Career Development: Graduates can further their studies or specialize in areas such as accident investigation, road safety education, or vehicle inspection.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The programme is targeted at South African youth, particularly from disadvantaged communities in and around Lephalale. Basic eligibility criteria include:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • South African citizenship
  • Valid Code B (Manual) Driver’s License
  • No criminal record
  • Medically fit and of good moral character
  • Reside within the Lephalale Local Municipality (preferred)

Additionally, candidates must be willing to undergo physical training, competency assessments, and security vetting.

 

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Applicants must submit a comprehensive application including:

  • A Lephalale Municipality Employment Application form
  • A signed application letter addressed to the Municipal Manager
  • A detailed CV with clear contact details
  • Certified copies of ID, matric certificate, and driver’s license
  • Proof of residence (preferably a municipal account or an affidavit)

Applications must be hand delivered to:

Municipal Manager, Lephalale Municipality, P/Bag X136 Lephalale, 0555 or hand — delivered to Records Office Civic Centre Cnr Joe Slovo and Douwater, Onverwacht.

Faxed or e-mailed applications and those without the relevant accompanying documents will be automatically disqualified. If you are not contacted within 90 days after the closing date, kindly consider your application as unsuccessful.
