Siyathemba Local Municipality invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Electrical Technicians Learnership Programme. The closing date for applications is the 17th October 2025.
The purpose of this position is to provide a learning opportunity for a young graduate to gain practical experience in the installation, maintenance, and operation of electrical reticulation systems and machinery within the Siyathemba Municipal area. The training will enable the incumbent to work towards obtaining the Government Certificate of Competency.
POSITION: LEARNER TECHNICIANS – ELECTRICAL SERVICES SPECIALISTS (X4 POST)
PREFFERED REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (to qualify for the Government Certificate of Competency).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the implementation and execution of operational guidelines, policies, and procedures within the Electrical Department.
- Gain exposure to legislation relevant to electrical services, including the Health and Safety Act, Wiring Regulations, Labour Act, and applicable Municipal Bylaws.
- Participate in planning, reporting, and quality control processes relating to electrical projects and maintenance work.
- Assist in feasibility studies, technical analysis, inspections, and monitoring of municipal electrical infrastructure.
- Support customer awareness programmes and satisfaction surveys.
- Accompany operational staff to gain technical knowledge and maintain proper records of activities.
- Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.
