In a powerful step towards fighting youth unemployment and bridging the skills gap in South Africa, Sekhukhune TVET College, in collaboration with the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA), has launched an impactful Internship Programme designed specifically for unemployed youth graduates. This initiative not only addresses the high rate of youth unemployment but also plays a pivotal role in preparing young South Africans for future employment in the education and training sector.
ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
The ETDP SETA Internship Programme at Sekhukhune TVET College is aimed at young graduates who hold qualifications in education, training, public administration, management, and other related fields. The programme offers 24 months of structured work experience in various departments within the college and affiliated educational institutions.
Interns are placed in roles that allow them to practically apply their theoretical knowledge while learning essential workplace skills such as project coordination, learner support, administrative functions, curriculum support, data capturing, and stakeholder engagement.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:
The programme is designed with several important goals:
- Bridging the gap between theory and practice by providing hands-on experience.
- Increasing employability of graduates by equipping them with real-world skills.
- Fostering professional development within the education and training sector.
- Promoting youth empowerment by offering a pathway to permanent employment or further learning opportunities.
FIELDS OF STUDY:
Information Technology – 24 Months
- NCV L2 – L4 (21 Subjects Completed)
Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy – 24 Months
- Matric / NCV L2 – L4 and Completed bachelor’s degree
Information Technology – 24 Months
- Matric / NCV L2 – L4 and Completed bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma and National Diploma
WHO CAN APPLY?
To be eligible for the internship programme:
- Applicants must be under 35 years of age.
- The opportunity is only for applicants who studied at Sekhukhune TVET College (for NCV Level 4) and applicants who studied in Universities / University of Technology (for Degree and Advanced Diploma).
- Adhere to minimum requirements. All Applications will be subjected to interview processes.
- All appointed candidates will be placed at Sekhukhune TVET College.
- Graduates who have participated/completed an experiential training programme before should not apply.
- Students with disability are encouraged to apply.
Preference is often given to graduates from TVET Colleges, especially those who require in-service training to complete their National N Diploma qualifications.
