South Africa’s Department of Employment and Labour has opened 220 UIF Claims Officer posts in Mpumalanga—an aligned employment drive under the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI). This strategic move aims to reduce youth unemployment and improve UIF service delivery while offering crucial entry-level opportunities for young people.
What Is PYEI?
The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative is South Africa’s flagship youth‑employment stimulus. It coordinates multiple employment pathways—from training and internships to placement and job creation—across government and the private sector. The PYEI is overseen by a Presidential PMO that ensures alignment and scale across departments and programmes.
Under this umbrella, the UIF funds and administers the Labour Activation Programme, contributing to youth-oriented employment schemes such as the Teacher Assistant Programme and UIF Claims Officer posts.
