If you’re a young storyteller from the Vhembe District in Limpopo and you dream in scripts, scenes, and soundtracks, this opportunity is for you. In partnership with the South African Arts & Culture Youth Forum (SAACYF) and Madiba Media and Productions, MICT SETA is inviting 25 passionate applicants to join a SETA-accredited 3-month Skills Programme in Film & Television Production (NQF Level 5).
Why this programme?
This intensive, hands-on programme is designed to help emerging filmmakers turn raw ideas into polished short films. You’ll be guided by industry practitioners and gain the technical and creative skills needed to step confidently into the South African screen sector.
What you’ll learn (highlights):
- Story & Development: concept creation, logline, synopsis, treatment, script basics
- Pre-Production: scheduling, budgeting, casting, location scouting, call sheets
- Production: directing fundamentals, camera operation, shot composition, lighting, sound recording, set etiquette and safety
- Post-Production: editing workflow, picture lock, basic colour and sound polish
- Industry & Careers: set roles, professional conduct, pitching, portfolio building
Who should apply
- Residence: Applicants must be from the Vhembe District, Limpopo Province
- Passion & Drive: Clear interest in film, TV, and visual storytelling
- Availability: Able to commit full-time for 3 months (training + project work)
- Note: Not open to individuals who previously completed this programme

Selection & commitments

- Outcome: Participants complete a SETA-accredited NQF 5 skills programme and build a showcase-ready short film or proof-of-concept.
