Minimum Requirements (No Experience Needed!)

To qualify, you must meet all compulsory requirements:

  • Three-year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6) or higher
  • Registered with SACNASP (compulsory)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • No prior work experience required

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of agricultural extension methodology

Key Duties & Responsibilities

This is a hands-on extension role, not an office-only job. Your duties include:

Farmer Support & Extension Services

  • Assist in providing general agricultural advice
  • Demonstrate modern and sustainable farming methods
  • Promote efficient use of soil, water, veld, and financial resources

Farm Visits & Project Support

  • Conduct farm and project visits
  • Use visitation tools for impact assessments
  • Assist in developing farm business plans
  • Help revive inactive or struggling agricultural projects

Training & Capacity Building

  • Organise Farmer Days and information sessions
  • Identify training needs and facilitate skills development
  • Provide aftercare and ongoing support to farmers
  • Assist with home garden establishment and food security initiatives

Stakeholder Engagement & Cooperatives

  • Mobilise farmers into cooperatives, associations, and interest groups
  • Promote partnerships with agricultural stakeholders
  • Support sustainable agricultural production systems

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain farmer databases and registers
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports
  • Assist with extension surveys and data analysis
  • Ensure compliance with Public Service regulations and policies

Salary & Benefits Breakdown
