If you’re looking to build a career in public service, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) offers an exciting opportunity through its Groundsman vacancies. These positions are ideal for hardworking individuals who take pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-kept outdoor environments. As South Africa’s education landscape continues to grow, support staff such as groundsmen play a crucial role in ensuring institutions remain functional, welcoming, and conducive to learning.

What is a Groundsman?

A Groundsman is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of outdoor spaces, gardens, walkways, and general landscaping at DHET campuses, including TVET colleges and skills training centres. Duties may include cutting grass, pruning trees, watering plants, removing litter, maintaining flower beds, and ensuring that all tools and garden machinery are properly stored and cared for.
