What is the Eskom YES (Generation) Programme?

The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national programme championed by the government and supported by the private sector to address the youth unemployment crisis. Through the YES (Generation) initiative at Duvha Power Station, 30 young individuals will be employed on a 12-month fixed-term contract, gaining meaningful exposure and experience in one of the country’s critical energy-producing plants.

Located in Mpumalanga, Duvha Power Station is one of Eskom’s strategic coal-fired plants, playing a vital role in ensuring energy stability in South Africa. Participants in this programme will be engaged in activities related to:

Who Should Apply?

The programme is open to unemployed South African youth aged between 18 and 34 who meet the following minimum criteria:

• Must have Grade 12 (Matric)
• Must not be currently employed or studying full-time
• Must reside near or within Mpumalanga (preferably near Duvha Power Station)
• Must be passionate about building a career in the energy sector
